More activities!! More photos!! Just giving the people what they want:Hiking/Nature etc.
I was super lucky in hearing about this group called HikingMadrid that takes people outside of the city on the weekends and does local hikes throughout the region. Jane and I have taken a few really great hikes and met some fun people on the way! The mountains are AMAZING and I'm starting to understand why people enjoy nature and stuff. I love getting outside of Madrid and huffing and puffing up trails. We did a hike in Miraflores, where I saw cows and bulls and other exciting wildlife lol and most recently we did a hike by El Escorial. The views were incredible and of course, the after hike beer is well deserved and refreshing.

BONUS!! My school had a field trip "excursion" to El Escorial and the Silla de Felipe II. What joy bringing 100+ 3rd graders around the mountain. It was actually really fun and I adore my students. |

Quick snapshot of El Escorial before heading up! |

A little winded, but look behind me! |

Saw this pulpo before the hike in Miraflores for their Pulpo festival. Unfortunately, did not eat it. My brother thinks octopus would be able to create their own complex societies and language if they grew spines. |

Bloopers!! Even hikers have to wait outside the bus station bathroom!! |
Real Madrid Game: |
Jane and I went with our new friend Hannah we met on a hike to a Real Madrid game! While soccer (ahem, futbol) is not my favorite sport, I'm slowing learning to like it. Most of my soccer know-how comes from ex-boyfriends, and has proven valuable because I sometimes recognize players! Also, Ronaldo! Saw him play for a bit. They played Las Gran Canarias and beat them 3-0. Real Madrid reminds me of the Yankees, and I'm on a quest to find my Mets in La Liga. |

Madrid weather got really cold, really fast. So Cosette and I enjoyed some ramen in Salamanca one slow Monday. Cause yanno when in Spain. |
The Clubs:
Wow! I hate clubs! I hate discotecas but when in Spain, you have to put on some makeup and try to stay awake until 2 am so you can go to the club. One night we headed to Joy Eslava and another night we went to the holy grail of club-dom, Kapital. Both resembled big theaters as well as the jail from the last Batman. I guess it's fun and there are moments where you're dancing and drinking and you're like its not that bad! Those moments are brief. Another weird note, at Kapital they have midgets that dance on stage and some Godfather look alike bop around. It was a strange experience.

Saw this duck in Retiro, just wanted to know if it was pregnant?? (with an egg?) |
|
Is this duck pregnant?? Just kidding, if you want to know what I'm usually doing most days...it's sitting on the Cercania commuter trains with the only scarf I packed. |
