Genius Mashup Puts Selena Gomez And Justin Bieber On 'Carpool Karaoke' Together

You know that one couple in high school that you thought would totally spend the rest of their lives together only to break up during orientation week at college?

For the world, that is Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. Some how, some way, we all just thought those two crazy kids were going to make it.

Anyone who has any ounce of pop culture knowledge knows that this is not what happened.

Not only did the relationship end, but there's some bitterness between the exes too, especially after Gomez called Bieber out for some major PDA on his Instagram. Before he deleted his Instagram and called it "the devil," that is.

(If you aren't using Instagram to make your ex jealous, what are you using it for?)

But have you ever wondered… what if?

Thanks to some clever video editing skills, we can imagine a perfect world where Selena and Justin sing Carpool Karaoke together.

Oh, what a beautiful alternate reality!

Why are we doomed to be stuck in this one!?

These two will never actually take an adorable road trip together, and even if they did, they probably wouldn't spend it singing each other's hit songs.  Some would say that's a bit self-centered when it doesn't actually occur with James Corden.

The editing is pretty spot on — including a moment where Bieber laughs at Gomez and her love of ginger shots.

Despite knowing it is all fake, part of my delicate heart melted when the Biebz said that he was a sensitive guy and Gomez reaches over to pat him on the back.

While we may never witness these two happy and in love again, we'll always have this video.

Still, we hope that both singers find their true love because, let's be real, if someone out there was still shipping you with your boyfriend from when you were 18, it would be pretty awkward.
