Nathan Sykes' "More Than You'll Ever Know" - Single Review

It was bound to happen eventually. Nathan Sykes, former youngest member of disbanded boy band The Wanted, is the first to step out on his own with the release of his debut uptempo funk/jazz single "More Than You'll Ever Know", which will have an official release later this Spring, along with plans for a full length album.

The new track is certainly a change in pace and sound for the artist. Instead of a club-ready jam similar to "Lighting" or "I Found You" (The Wanted's two greatest achievements), Sykes seems to be traveling down a R&B crooner path paved by the likes of Nick Jonas. The sound definitely suits his suave, seductive vocals.

"More Than You'll Ever Know" is rumored to be inspired by Sykes' ex-girlfriend, "Break Free" songstress Ariana Grande. It's a love song that features Sykes down on his knees ready to give anything and everything to the girl who stole his heart. "It's a cold, cold world when I'm without you, don't you know, know girl, I'm lucky I found you," the artist sings on the hook, right before the sultry, infectious chorus.

It's no surprise that Sykes is venturing off on a solo career. Besides rumors of the plans circulating ever since The Wanted went on an indefinite hiatus, Sykes did have the strongest vocal pipes of the five members. Did you hear that range on "I Found You"? Absolutely magical. The new single is a step in the right direction.

With a cool, refreshing sound, a commendable vocal performance, and lyrics that will melt the heart of any woman... or man, it appears that "More Than You'll Ever Know" has a shot at becoming the next big summer single. While reports are saying the song is just a teaser of what is to come, it would be smart if Sykes officially introduced himself again with this memorable, funky new tune.
