Meghan's new eternity ring means she's worn £600,000 worth of jewellery in the past 18 months - Daily Mail

As a woman well aware that her every fashion choice will be scrutinised intensely, the Duchess of Sussex has become adept at making statements through her jewellery – from wearing the same African bracelet as Prince Harry to hint that they were dating to the necklace bearing the word 'Mummy' she chose when she was pregnant.

So when Meghan wore an eternity ring at Trooping the Colour this month, during her first public appearance after the birth of baby Archie, it was clear it had a special significance. The bespoke diamond band designed by American jeweller Lorraine Schwartz, was given to her by her husband to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.

The ring is the latest in an extraordinary collection of jewellery that Meghan has amassed in the past year, which has now been valued at a staggering £600,000.

Meghan first wore this 18ct yellow gold eternity ring that marks her first wedding anniversary at Trooping the Colour. It was made for Prince Harry by Lorraine Schwartz who has also designed jewellery for a host of famous clients including Beyoncé and Angelina Jolie.

Meghan first wore this 18ct yellow gold eternity ring that marks her first wedding anniversary at Trooping the Colour. It was made for Prince Harry by Lorraine Schwartz who has also designed jewellery for a host of famous clients including Beyoncé and Angelina Jolie.

It includes Princess Diana's £75,000 aquamarine ring that Meghan wore on her wedding day, £60,000 Cartier drop earrings, and a set of £4,275 pearl and diamond earrings which were a gift from the Queen. In fact, the 91-piece collection, which boasts seven necklaces, 23 bracelets, 26 rings and 35 pairs of earrings, is so significant that it eclipses that of her late mother-in-law.

But while some items cost as much as a modest home in some parts of the country, Meghan is also a fan of more affordable jewellery, sporting many pieces that can be bought for under £100.

Jeweller Grant Mobley, who valued some of Diana's heirlooms, told The Mail on Sunday: 'The Royal Family is one of the best examples of how diamond jewellery can stand the test of time, be passed down from generation to generation, and only grows in emotional and intrinsic value over the years.'

Even the Duchess of Cambridge doesn't have such an impressive collection: she owns about 60 pieces of jewellery, including Diana's sapphire engagement ring worth an estimated £300,000, and her 'Saudi Suite' – a wedding gift from Crown Prince Fahd which contained a sapphire watch, earrings, bracelet, ring and necklace.

One ring? No, FOUR... When one diamond ring isn't enough, wear four. Although Meghan appeared keen not to upstage Princess Eugenie at her October wedding, she attracted attention by flashing four rings on her right hand, worth a total of £9,000. The Pippa Small jewels – crafted from quartz crystals mined from New York state – were paired with a £2,200 diamond bracelet and £495 stud earrings by the same designer

Meghan, too, has been gifted items from Diana's collection.

On the first day of her and Harry's Australian tour last year, when they announced her pregnancy, the Duchess wore Diana's butterfly earrings and gold bracelet. A poignant message acknowledging her legacy would live on through her son and future grandchild.

But away from costly heirlooms, Meghan has been seen in elegant high street brands such as Missoma, which is sold in John Lewis. She also stacks rings on every finger and piles on the bracelets.

Mr Mobley believes that is one of the reasons Meghan's jewellery has become such a talking point. 'She often wears pieces that would be considered very attainable by the average person,' he explains.

She is drawn, too, to lesser-known designers who share her ethical and humanitarian interests.

One favourite is jeweller Pippa Small, who describes herself as an 'anthropologist, human rights activist and survival ambassador'. Both Prince Charles and Kate are also fans of the designer, who was made an MBE in 2013. Other favourites include Australian Natalie Marie, who uses a mixture of ethical and recycled materials, and Canadian brand Ecksand, that 'respects Mother Nature' by using recycled gold and conflict-free gems.

Here, The Mail on Sunday shares the most dazzling gems in the Duchess's expanding jewellery box.

Debbie Wingham bag costs $6.7million made from upcycled designer Hermès scarf and Cartier earrings - Daily Mail

Posted: 10 Apr 2019 12:00 AM PDT

An upcycled handbag worth a staggering $6.7 million (£5.13 million) has just been unveiled in New York City

The pricey purse is made from materials that belonged to one hyper-wealthy woman, who decided to give her 'last season' items a new lease of life for Easter.

The bag is embellished with almost 8,000 glittering diamonds set in platinum and 24 carat gold, and it fastens using a pair of $40,000 (£30,600) Cartier earrings.

The egg segment is made from a genuine emu egg - from the world's second bird- which was reinforced with enamel made from blue diamond dust.

The egg is encased with an asymmetrical nest of 24k gold, valued at $250k, and the interior is lined with a silk Hermès scarf.

The most valuable gems on the exterior are three extremely rare three carat flawless pink diamonds, worth $1.9 million (£1.45 million) and two flawless white diamonds valued at $265k (£202,000).

The opulent item is the creation of British designer Debbie Wingham, 37, who is famed for creating a series of 'world's most expensive' items for billionaires in Dubai and beyond.

All of the items I used to make the purse were upcycled from the client who commissioned it,' said Debbie, who named the bag 'Reborn' for that reason.

'I never thought I'd ever put 'upcycling' and 'world's most expensive' in the same sentence but here we are.

'It's my most unique piece yet…the highlight for me was using Cartier jewellery as an embellishment'.

Italian designer Alessandro Galanti created the gold shell for the emu egg, which is an 'extremely tricky process' according to Debbie, because the egg is so fragile.

'He thought I was crazy at first, but in the end I got him to agree to the project and he managed to perfect it first time, without breaking any emu eggs,' she said.

'After I'd completed the design, the bag took three months to make.'

Debbie unveiled the purse on Tuesday on The Wendy Williams Show in the US, before delivering it to her mega rich client in Manhattan.

'I can't reveal my client's name for security reasons, but she's from New York and her family originates from Barbados,' said Debbie, a mom-of-three.

'Most of my clients chose to remain anonymous for obvious reasons,' she added.

'This client has a lot of wonderful, luxurious things in her closet, things she said she would never wear again, so we decided to give them a new lease of life for Easter.

'I'm not sure if she'll ever wear the bag out, she may take it to the red carpet, or just keep it as an art piece.'

The Queen bans Meghan from wearing jewellery from Royal Collection - Daily Mail

Posted: 04 Apr 2019 12:00 AM PDT

The Royal family has hit back at claims the Queen 'banned' the Duchess of Sussex from wearing some of the priceless items from her own private collection.

A palace insider reportedly claimed priceless items from Her Majesty's private collection, which are loaned at her discretion, 'would not be made available to Meghan.'

But a Buckingham Palace insider rubbished the claims, telling MailOnline that the Queen still lends her jewellery to the Duchess of Sussex - including the headpiece she wore at her wedding in May.

Meghan also wore a pair of pearl earrings gifted to her by the Queen during her first joint engagement with the monarch last June.

The Royal Collection is held in trust by the Sovereign for her successors and the nation, and is not owned by The Queen as a private individual.

But the Queen does own a number of items - including a glittering array of crowns, tiaras, necklaces and earrings - which remain her private property and are kept in her own collection.

She loans them out to members of the royal family for formal occasions and state visits, at her own discretion.

Buckingham Palace was reported to have applied the stringent new rules to Meghan in a bid to 'maintain order, hierarchy and precedence' within the Royal Family.

The move reportedly came after the Queen was left 'unimpressed by Meghan's demanding behaviour' ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry last year - during which he is reported to have told staff, 'What Meghan wants Meghan gets.'

But a source for Buckingham Palace told MailOnline: 'It is worth noting that the Queen lent Meghan a tiara for the wedding, gave her earrings for her first royal engagement, and had just agreed to partly fund her new household.

'The jewellery in question is only usually worn at extremely special functions or state occasions and there simply haven't been many of those since Meghan became a member of the Royal Family.'

The palace said the Duchess of Sussex had not attended any major or state events recently, which warranted wearing such items.

A 'royal insider' had told The Sun: 'It is true that Buckingham Palace did not want all the items in the Royal Collection to be opened up to Meghan at this time.

'Obviously Kate as the next Princess of Wales and a senior member of the family does have them made available to her.

'That's not to say items won't be loaned to Meghan in the future if situations change.'

Last month, The Mail on Sunday revealed the Prince of Wales told the Duchess of Sussex not to wear a tiara to her first overseas state dinner, fearing it might look 'extravagant'.

The Duchess had hoped to borrow a jewelled tiara from the Royal Collection for the event, but she was advised by her father-in-law that such ostentation is avoided in parts of the Commonwealth where it can be seen as reminiscent of a bygone era or 'extravagant'.

A source said: 'Meghan did not understand all of this because she was new to the role and so Prince Charles told her that it would not be appropriate.

'It was very kindly done.'

The absence of a tiara drew attention when Meghan, wearing a blue full-length gown by Safiyaa, arrived for the dinner hosted by the president of Fiji Jioji Konrote – not least because the Duchess of Cambridge wore a large diamond and pearl headpiece once owned by Princess Diana to a state banquet at Buckingham Palace on the same night.

However Meghan did at the time wear a pair of diamond earrings that are thought to have been borrowed, possibly from the Royal Collection, which is the largest private collection of art in the world.

Last year, Meghan and Harry's wedding preparations shaken by a dispute over another tiara. The former Suits actress had reportedly set her heart on an emerald encrusted headpiece, but her request was refused when the origin of the piece could not be established.

When Harry heard this, he reportedly said, 'What Meghan wants, Meghan gets', prompting the Queen to intervene.

At the time, a source was quoted as saying: 'There was a very heated exchange that prompted the Queen to speak to Harry.

'She said: 'Meghan cannot have whatever she wants. She gets what tiara she's given by me.' '

What is the Royal Collection and what items are in the Queen's personal collection?

The Royal Collection is among the largest and most important art collections in the world, and one of the last great European royal collections to remain intact.

It comprises almost all aspects of the fine and decorative arts, and is spread among some 15 royal residences and former residences across the UK, most of which are regularly open to the public.

The Royal Collection is held in trust by the Sovereign for her successors and the nation, and is not owned by The Queen as a private individual.

But the Queen does have her own personal collection - including a glittering array of crowns, tiaras, necklaces and earrings - which remain her private property.

She loans them out to members of the royal family for formal occasions and state visits, at her own discretion.

Here, we take a look at a few of the items in her personal collection.

They include the 'Lovers' Knot' tiara worn by the Duchess of Cambridge in 2018.

Commissioned by Queen Mary in 1913, it has 19 diamond arches with pearls beneath them and has previously been worn by both the Queen and Princess Diana, who reportedly complained that its weight gave her a headache.

It was given to Diana, Princess of Wales, by the Queen as a wedding gift in 1981 and she wore the piece often.

The diamond and pearl-encrusted tiara was made in 1914 by Garrard and has a strong French influence with a neo-classical design of 19 diamond arches, each cradling an oriental pearl drop.

It was designed by the Queen's grandmother Queen Mary and based on one owned by Mary's grandmother Princess Augusta who married the first Duke of Cambridge.

The piece was composed of existing jewels Queen Mary had in her collection: the dismantled Some Ladies of England Tiara as well as some pearls from brooches belonging to Mary.

After Mary died in 1953, the tiara passed to her granddaughter Queen Elizabeth, who wore it regularly in the 1950s but phased it out.

While Princess Diana wore the piece regularly, she is said to have found it too heavy and gave her a headache. It was also a loan and not part of her personal property so it's back in the Queen's collection.

Other famous headpieces include the Queen Mother's Cartier Halo Scroll Tiara, which boasts 888 diamonds and was loaned to the Duchess of Cambridge for her wedding to Prince William in 2011.

The 1000-piece diamond tiara was initially bought in 1936 as an anniversary gift from King George VI to his wife in 1936.

It was then given to the Queen on her 18th birthday by the Queen mother.

Over the years, it has been worn by Princess Margaret, as well as Princess Anne.

Another item in the Queen's private Collection is the Nizam of Hyderabad necklace, originally created by Cartier in 1930s.

It consists of a long chain of 38 diamonds (reduced from the original 46) with a diamond-encrusted snap. The centre of the necklace is pave-set with detachable double-drop pendant 13 emerald-cut diamonds and a pear-shaped drop. The original necklace consisted of eight double-drop and three triple-drop pendants.

However, nine of the pendants (all eight double-drop and the larger of the triple-drop pendants) were later removed and sold separately. The necklace itself found its first owner in 1936 but Cartier repurchased it a year later.

The Strathmore Rose Tiara belonged to the Queen Mother and was a present from her parents in 1923. This also remains in the Queen's private collection.

It can be worn on top of the head or across the forehead as a bandeau - as the then Duchess of York chose to do in keeping with the fashion of the times.

But the delicate floral design has not been worn in public for many years.

Queen Alexandra's Russian Kokoshnik Tiara is formed of 61 platinum bars and bejewelled with 488 diamonds, it was a gift to Alexandra on her silver wedding anniversary in 1888 and is based on a Russian-style peasant girl's head wear which was in fashion at the time.

Queen Mary's Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. One of the Queen's favourites, the tiara was given to Princess Mary of Teck from the 'Girls of Great Britain and Ireland' when she married the Duke of York, later King George V in May 1893.

It was made by Garrard and has a scrolled and foliage-inspired form with diamonds pave-set in silver and gold.

The magnificent piece also included 14 large oriental pearls and could be worn as a necklace or even dismantled and mounted on a smaller frame as a coronet.

In 1914, Queen Mary had the tiara adapted to take 13 brilliant-cut diamonds to replace the pearls.

For Princess Elizabeth's wedding to Prince Philip in 1947, Queen Mary gave her granddaughter the tiara and a bandeau base.

This is the tiara most closely associated with the Queen as it is the piece she is wearing in banknotes and coinage.

Following the execution of Charles I in 1649, the greater part of the King's magnificent possessions was sold by order of Oliver Cromwell, and the Royal Collection has largely been formed since the Restoration of the Monarchy in 1660.

The most important additions to the Royal Collection were made by Frederick, Prince of Wales; George III; George IV; Queen Victoria and Prince Albert; and Queen Mary, consort of King George V.

The Collection is housed in 13 royal residences and former residences across the UK. These include Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Hampton Court, the Tower of London, Osborne House and the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, where works of art can be seen by the public in the historic settings for which they were originally commissioned or acquired.

In the end, Meghan wore Queen Mary's diamond and platinum bandeau tiara from the Queen's private collection during the wedding ceremony at St George's Chapel in Windsor.

Meghan picked the tiara from the Queen's collection during a visit to Buckingham Palace with Prince Harry, which she described as 'an incredibly surreal day'.

Meghan and Prince Harry recorded their memories of the wedding for an audio commentary that is part of the 'Relive the Royal Wedding' exhibition at Windsor Castle.

Speaking about the tiara she wore, Meghan said: 'When it came to the tiara on the day, I was very fortunate to be able to choose this gorgeous art deco style bandeau tiara.

'Harry and I had gone to Buckingham Palace to meet with Her Majesty The Queen to select one of the options that were there, which was an incredibly surreal day as you can imagine.

'And that was the one that, I think, as we tried them on, stood out.'

Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace have been approached for comment.

Meghan's something borrowed: Which tiara did she wear?

The sparkling tiara Meghan wore on her wedding was the Queen Mary's Diamond Bandeau, which was loaned to her by Harry's grandmother the Queen from the Royal Collection.

Royal brides are traditionally loaned priceless heirlooms to wear on their wedding day.

Meghan could have chosen the Spencer tiara - famously worn by Harry's later mother Diana, Princess of Wales when she married the Prince of Wales in 1981.

But Meghan has instead selected this little known piece, which features a magnificent floral-shaped suspended brooch in the centre made of a large round diamond surrounded by nine smaller circular diamonds.

It was specifically made for the Queen's grandmother Queen Mary in 1932 to accommodate the detachable brooch, which was given to Mary as a wedding present in 1893 by the County of Lincoln.

The bandeau is a flexible band of 11 intricate glittering sections, pierced with interlaced ovals and pave set with large and small brilliant diamonds.

The bandeau and the brooch were bequeathed by Queen Mary to her granddaughter the Queen on her death in 1953.

Jennifer Lopez celebrated her 49th birthday on Tuesday evening in the Bahamas with those closest to her.

The next day the World Of Dance star took to social media to share photos from the dinner, which included boyfriend Alex Rodriguez, manager Benny Medina and her two kids Max and Emme.

And interestingly the Second Act actress flashed a giant diamond Cartier ring on her wedding finger. The bauble sells for $173,000 and is made of white gold, diamonds, emeralds and onyx.

The ring was given to her by Alex on Valentine's Day in February - they were seen together at Cartier in Miami picking it out.

However, Lopez is not seen wearing it much, and has not worn in on her wedding finger before.

It's not likely that the siren is engaged to the former baseball pro - she always said she would tell her fans as soon as it happened, but it could mean she's dropping hints.

The Bronx beauty wore a short sparkly emerald green dress by Retrofête and added brighter green heels.

Her hair was pulled back and she showed off a fresh tan as she packed on the PDA with her beau.

The star shared several images of the bash to her Instagram, and added this caption: 'So believe it or not I'm just waking up from my birthday celebration last night.

'It was a small gathering with the kids and some family and a couple of close friends... the day and night was filled with lots of laughter, tears and of course dancing...:)

Before meeting Prince Harry, Meghan Markle stuck to modest trinkets.

Now she owns a collection of jewels worth £1m.

This includes her stunning £140,000 engagement ring and a £241,000 Cartier bracelet.

Other dazzling items include the £450,000 tiara borrowed from the Queen.

A glittering set of £60,000 earrings she received as a pre-wedding gift also belong in her jaw dropping collection of jewels.

Here's how Duchess of diamonds, Meghan Markle sparkles.

ENGAGEMENT RING WITH DIANA'S JEWELS - £140,000

Personally designed by Harry and made by royal jeweller Cleave and Company, the Duchess's engagement sparkler is by far the most magnificent in her collection.

Set on a gold band, the central diamond, believed to be around 3ct, was ethically sourced in Botswana — where the couple holidayed after only a few weeks of dating. The two round diamonds on either side come from a brooch that belonged to Harry's late mother, Princess Diana.

In their blissfully happy engagement interview last November, Harry said the decision to incorporate Diana's stones would ensure that 'she's with us on this crazy journey together'.

Leading jeweller David Marshall estimates the ring's value at £140,000 — but High Street store Argos sells a cut-price version, the 'Meghan Sparkle', for just £14.99.

DRIPPING WITH DIAMONDS FOR HER A-LIST RECEPTION - £60,000

From the same collection as her jagged-edged wedding bracelet these Cartier chandelier earrings are made from 18ct white cold and are each set with 19 round diamonds totalling 0.81ct and ten rectangular stones totalling 1.08ct. All in all, that's 58 stunning sparklers dangling from Meghan's ears.

SWIRL STUDS TO BLING UP A BLACK DRESS - £1,350

Businesslike in black for a female empowerment event in London in April, Meghan chose these pretty diamond earrings made by Birks, her favourite Canadian jeweller, to jazz up her Jackie O-inspired pencil dress. The £1,350 studs, made from 18ct white gold and decorated with swirls of miniature diamonds, are 'designed to enchant'. Much like everything Meghan wears, the earrings are now sold out on most retailers' websites.

SIMPLE SILVER ROSES FOR A NEW DUCHESS - £1,395

For her first outing as a Duchess, at a Buckingham Palace garden party to mark Prince Charles's 70th birthday last week, Meghan appeared to have acquired another new pair of dazzling diamonds. These Idylle La Rose earrings, by Belgian designer Vanessa Tugendhaft, are made from rhodium silver and paved with tiny diamonds totalling 0.43ct. They elegantly complemented her sleek chignon and jauntily angled Philip Treacy hat.

THE RING THAT'S A SIGN OF EVERLASTING LOVE - £1,130

Meghan loves symbolic jewellery — from the African bracelet that matched Harry's, to the 'H' and 'M' necklace she wore early in their relationship. And this Infinie ring, from Vanessa Tugendhaft's Promesse line, is a sign of everlasting love. She wore the piece, which is made from 18ct yellow gold and set with 0.25ct diamonds arranged in the shape of the mathematical symbol for infinity, to Belfast in March and again to the Invictus Games trials the following month.

THE CROSS TO MARK HER CONFIRMATION - £520

Days after she was baptised and confirmed by the Archbishop of Canterbury in March, Meghan began wearing this delicate diamond bracelet. it is believed to be a gift from the Royal Family for joining the Church of England, a pre-marriage requirement. The dainty piece, by Vanessa Tugendhaft, comprises an 18ct white gold chain with a central cross, set with 16 0.08ct diamonds. At just £520, it's one of her cheaper pieces.

A GOLDEN CLOVER CHAIN FOR LOVE - £770

This minimalist necklace by Vanessa Tugendhaft was Meghan's lucky charm at the Invictus Games trial in April, adding some royal-worthy dazzle to her causal khaki coat. It features an 18ct gold chain set with solitaire diamonds and is intended to be worn day and night.

ETHICAL GEMS TO GLAM UP A ROYAL OUTING - £450

The Duchess has worn Zofia Day's triangle-shaped studs twice: once for her landmark interview with Vanity Fair in October 2017 and again for a royal outing in Cardiff in January. The Californian brand prides itself on ethically sourced stones. These £450 earrings are encrusted with 0.06ct diamonds.

HIDDEN SPARKLE ON HER WRIST - £995

Dressed head-to-toe in navy for the Queen's birthday concert in April, Meghan couldn't resist adding some signature sparkle to her look. The piece, a silver and yellow gold bangle by edgy British designer Shaun Leane was subtly studded with diamonds totalling 0.13ct at one end.

ICE WITH A WINTRY THEME TO REMIND HER OF CANADA - £6,950

Smiling and relaxed in a chic, white shirt as she left Windsor Castle just days before her wedding, the soon-to-be Duchess didn't miss her chance to shine, showing off this brand-new pair of 2.15ct diamond-studded white gold earrings.

Yet another design from Meghan's favourite Canadian brand Birks, these Snowstorm earrings are said to be 'inspired by the icy beauty of Canadian winters' — perhaps not so apt for a sunny May day. At £6,950, they don't come cheap — so Meghan made sure they were seen by sweeping her hair behind her ears.

GLITTERING PRE-WEDDING PRESENT SHE ADORES - £60,000

Meghan was first seen sporting these 18ct white gold Galanterie de Carier earrings in April at a reception to celebrate the Invictus Games, Harry's sports tournament for injured servicemen and women. She adores them so much she wore them again on her wedding day and they are believed to have been a pre-wedding present from Harry.

YET ANOTHER GIFT FROM HER BESOTTED GROOM? £17,700

Adorning her wrist at her new father-in-law's birthday celebrations was this diamond tennis bracelet, believed to be another present from her Prince Charming.

Although the exact make is unknown, it looks remarkably like the £17,700 Cartier Essential Lines bracelet, made from 18ct white gold and set with 61 brilliant-cut diamonds.

If so, it would be a touching tribute to Diana, who adored Cartier jewellery and owned an almost identical piece.

A PRECIOUS CARTIER BRACELET FOR THE BRIDE - £241,000

Against the splendour of her Givenchy gown, her Reflection de Cartier bracelet almost went unnoticed. Made from 18ct white gold and set with more than 100 diamonds, it is designed to 'create breathtaking radiance and light'. There are two versions of this bracelet, one costing a staggering £241,000 — but Meghan's may well have been bespoke.

THE STACKING RING SHE WEARS EVERYWHERE - £865

She's flashed it out and about in Edinburgh and on stage in London for a charity event — this yellow gold and diamond ring, by her go-to Canadian jeweller Birks, is one of Meghan's everyday staples. Costing £865, the band — made from her favourite metal — comes from the Birks Splash collection and is designed to be stacked; that is, worn on the same finger as several other rings.

Right on trend for this fashion-forward Duchess.

SUBTLE JEWELLED STUDS IMPORTED FROM INDIA - £375

These pared-down studs, by Los Angeles fine jeweller Adina Reyter, are made from a curved piece of 14ct yellow gold and feature a trio of 0.15ct diamonds. Called the Three Diamond Amigos, they cost £375 and are imported from India. Meghan chose the earrings for a Commonwealth Day service in March, adding a touch of flair — and sparkle — to her sensible white Amanda Wakeley coat and Stephen Jones beret.

THE DAZZLING TIARA ON LOAN FROM THE QUEEN - £450,000

Every fairytale princess needs a tiara — and Meghan chose this spectacular piece, made for Queen Mary (the Queen's grandmother) in 1932, for her big day. The stunning design, a band of 11 intricate sections, is made up of interlaced ovals and set with round-cut diamonds. In the centre is a detachable floral brooch made from ten glittering stones, a wedding present for Mary from the County of Lincoln in 1893. Both were bequeathed to the Queen on her grandmother's death in 1953. The little-known piece was last seen in 1965, when it was worn by Princess Margaret. Leading jeweller David Marshall says: 'This would be worth between £350,000 and £450,000. It would have taken up to 500 hours to make a tiara like this.'

The £5,250 earrings, designed to 'capture the brilliance of freshly fallen snow', are made from 18ct white gold and each feature two round-cut diamonds surrounded by a circle of smaller diamonds, totalling 1.39ct.
