My Experience with City Color M23 Lana Be Matte Lipstick:

The packaging of the lipstick is simple. It comes in a basic black plastic tube with white colored detailing on it. The quality of the lipstick tube looks kind of cheap. The tube is squarely shaped. It closes with a clear cap, which helps to see the shade from the top.

The cap of the lipstick fits securely with an audible click sound and that makes the lipstick travel friendly. It has a sticker at its base mentioning the shade name. The tube bears a label on its side indicating its shade name, number and ingredients list. Overall, the packaging is basic and there is nothing extraordinary about it.

I have two gorgeous shades from this range – “Brianda” and “Lana.” Brianda is a gorgeous burgundy red lipstick, which has already been reviewed on IMBB before. Today, I am reviewing the shade “Lana”. “Lana” is also a beautiful cool-toned bright red shade, which flatters my skin tone very well. It is a bold and bright shade. I am so much in love with this colour. This is really beautiful and instantly brightens up my face. The shade is definitely too bright and not fit for everyday use. Those who love subtle shades may find it too bold and bright. It is definitely not an everyday shade but it is a perfect red for parties.

Pigmentation-wise, the lipstick is amazing. It imparts opaque finish in just two swipes and hides all flaws and pigmentation of the lips perfectly, giving a gorgeous opaque finish. The lipstick has a funny candy-like fragrance. It smells melon like and I absolutely love the fragrance since I prefer fruity fragrances much, but people with with sensitive noses may find it a little strong and irritating.

The texture of the lipstick is nice. It is soft and creamy. Therefore, it glides effortlessly on the lips without any tug or pull, but the formula of the lipstick is so soft that the lipstick sometimes breaks into tiny pieces during application. The formula is neither drying nor moisturizing. The lipstick feels comfortable on the lips. The lipstick sets to a pretty velvety kind of finish after a few seconds of application. It is not true matte. The creaminess of the lipstick makes it prone to transfer a little. This is not smudge-proof and the outer lip line gets messy after having a full meal.

The lasting power is good, it easily lasts for approximately 5-6 hours on my lips with very little fading. It can survive light meals but fades away from the center of the lips after having a full heavy meal. The color also settles into the fine lines of the lips after a full meal. It is pretty easy to wipe off with a regular wipe and it does not leave any stain behind.
